Grand jury to probe Boston mob boss' life on run (AP)

FILE - This file courtroom sketch depicts Catherine Greig, second from right, longtime girlfriend of former crime boss James 'Whitey' Bulger, during a hearing before Magistrate Judge Jennifer Boal, right, in a federal courtroom in Boston Monday, July 11, 2011. Her attorney, Kevin Reddington, second from left, and her sister Margaret McCusker, left, also are depicted. A lawyer for Greig says she knew nothing about his violent crimes when she fled Boston with Bulger in 1995. Prosecutors, however, said she willingly left Boston with him, knowing he was about to be indicted on racketeering charges. A judge did not immediately rule on whether Greig will be released on bail while awaiting trial.
